Victor Cruz is likely to start for the Giants. The Falcons showed the league how to handle the Philly secondary; run and throw to the tight ends. We’re not high on Cruz’s chances this week.

Kinda feels like Thomas Jones is going to get most of the work replacing Jamal Charles.

Beanie Wells may have a bad hammy.

Peyton Hillis feels “crummy”.

Jerious Norwood’s likely to get a bunch of carries Sunday. Get to know Jerious: Big NASCAR fan, shares a birthday with Geddy Lee, Dan Quayle’s wife & Mussolini, his middle name is Montreal.

Jahvid Best will play Thursday night. We still don’t like him as much as most. A) Lions are going to pass the ball a ton, probably a lot on in the red zone. He didt have a TD after week two last year.  B) Big injury history, and not just concussions C) Very low yards per carry numbers; doesn’t matter if it’s his fault or the line’s. D) He’s a Lion.

Not thinking that Larry Johnson is going to be anything for the Dolphins. We still like rookie Daniel Thomas a lot.

Signon San Diego breaks down the Chargers’ fantasy prospects. Stay Classy.

We don’t like Plaxico Burress at all this year. List of people who have come out of the joint and returned to past glory.
Vick.
These guys.
That’s it.

Peyton Hills wants you to check out his new web site; but is also a cruddy tipper.

Troy Aikman is going to kick someone’s ass.

…and more hatin’, Boomer Esiason hates on Vince Young.

Seventy pictures of the 2011 Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders.

RIP Killer --> Wojo, Stoney, Rosenberg. Let's get TK on the Lions jerseys.

Felix Jones is looking good; we’re tempted to move him up a notch in our player rankings. Problem is Jason Garrett has been big on limiting the carries of his #1 RB; 238 carries is the most one RB has put together in a season since Garrett took over the Cowboy offense in 2007.

Ryan Williams is out for the season. I don’t think Beanie Wells should move up too much on your draft board (we’ll take the time here to again reiterate that you should not draft until after the third preseason game). By taking Williams in the second round, they showed that they do not thing Wells is a 20-25 carry type of back. Look for them to get someone off the scrap heap shortly and keep Wells at the 200 carry mark for the season.

With all the precautionary measures taken with concussions, you’re going to hear more about “whiplash”. Even this blog post put Jason Campbell’s “whiplash” in quotation marks.

Lions running game was all ready going to be suspect, but it would be a disaster if Jahvid Best’s concussion turns out to be serious.

We may be talking ourselves into Kyle Orton as a low end fantasy back-up quarterback.

We’ve made a career out of hating the Lions. But we like how Nate Burleson planed out how to diss Cleveland fans. Check out the powder throw below.

Our 100% Correct Player Ranking are up (finally). No big suprises, excpet for the things that are suprises.

AZ Central breaks down the Cardinals wide receivers.

The Baltimore Sun cuts into our racket and ranks Fantasy wide receivers. They don't like Mike Wallace as much as we do. Our old buddy Ladd Biro breaks down who's up and who's down; don't miss his take on Olindo Mare.

Cam Newton get the start in the second preseaon game for the Panters. Guessing Jimmy Clausen jerseys just went on sale.

Brian Robiskie is the number one wide receiver on the Brown's depth chart. Have a feeling that their offense will end up spreading the ball around too much to make this a big deal.

If Matthews and Tolbert are San Diego's 1 & 1a running backs as it say's here, we say they're not worth much in fantasy football.

Here's what we saw in Thursday's Pre-Season games.

Dallas 24 Denver 23
McGahee got his time with the first string. Could be en route to a 67/33 split situation with Moreno. Orton started. His 2/6 is deceiving. Had one tipped at the line, three failed shots at the end zone. These are timing plays that will come later as camp progresses.

Who is Lonyae Miller? Some Cowboy RB that got first team reps. One to watch as camp progresses.

Seattle 24 Chargers 17
T Jackson looked ok in the box score, hit on some shot passes. Still wouldn’t touch him with a fantasy 10-foot-pole. Don’t be surprised if Marshawn (Money (?)) Lynch turns into a sneaky-decent #2 fantasy RB; let’s see how much he’s involved in the passing game. Thomas Clayton had a nice 16/62/1 line, but as a career non-factor, there’s a lot to prove before he has any fantasy value.

For SD, nothing yet that makes you think that this year will be any different from last year’s fantasy frustrating Matthew/Tolbert RB split.

New England 47 Jacksonville 12
Neither team played starters at the fantasy positions, nothing to see here.

Arizona 24 Oakland 18
Kevin Kolb looked decent adding hope that Larry Fitzgerald will improve from his six TD performance last year. Beanie Wells got stuffed at the goal line; no worries, he’s got 20-30 lbs on the RBs on the depth chart, no chance of him losing the short yardage role.

Darrius Heyward-Bey may break out a little bit as the Raiders have a little stability in the scheme and at QB.

Philadelphia 13 Baltimore 6
Ray Rice got all the first team reps; even on third down where he sometime yielded to McGahee. Topping his 1220 rush yds/63 rec 556 yd will be tough; improvement will come from his 6 TDs in 2010. With a couple extra yards then 4 extra TDs; he’s in the Top 3 RB conversation.

The three most overrated things in Philly
1) Cheesesteaks
2) Cheesesteaks
3) Eagles Fantasy Players (other than Vick)
The Eagles fantasy players will still be diluted. They spread the ball around to too many running backs and too many receivers. DeSean Jackson’s overall numbers make him look like a good fantasy wide receiver. But. He’s still just the home run threat; he KILLS you in a PPR league (just three games with more than 4 receptions last year). LeSean McCoy barely got to 1000 yards last year; Ronnie Brown got a ton of action Thursday night, showing that he’s going to get time and push McCoy under the 1,000 mark; Owen Schmitt got the first carry of the post season for goodness sake.

Much has been made this off season about the short training camp. You’re hearing, “stay away from teams that have a new Head Coach or Offensive Coordinator.” The reasoning isn’t necessarily flawed, the shorten camps and lack of off season training leaves teams with new faces behind in preparation. But let’s look at the teams that have new head coaches this year.

Carolina 2-14 record last year
Oakland 8-8
49ers 6-10
Titans 6-10

All these team stunk, that’s why they have new coaches. And all their fantasy players stunk, except Tennessee’s Chris Johnson. Generally, the only thing you’re giving up by staying away from playz on these teams is the potential that they may break out. But you make your “he’s got upside picks” later in the draft anyway.

So who changed offensive coordinators? Minnesota, Seattle, KC, St Louis, Miami, Arizona, Cincinnati, New England.  Arizona, St Louis, Seattle and Minnesota were bottom 25% squads in 2010 Offensive DVOA. Fresh blood in the coordinator spots should improve fantasy performance (except Seattle, they’re going to continue to stink).

Are you dropping Tom Brady on your draft board because New England has a new OC? Did you plan on drafting Chad Hennie or Matt Cassel high this year, but are thinking twice because of new coordinators? Probably not.

So while staying away from new coaches sounds like a decent theory, fantasy football still comes down to the playz. New coaches are there for a reason, the old ones were losers.
